- b. 1947, San SebastiánArchitectLinazasoro is particularly active in the field of architectural theory. Qualifying in 1972, he gained his doctorate in 1976 and went on to lecture on architecture first at Valladolid and then at the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura in Madrid. He is the author of an important contribution to the debate about post-modernism in the 1980s: El proyecto clásico en Arquitectura (The Classical Project in Architecture) (1984). He is heavily involved in the promotion of Basque culture, and his work offers a very sophisticated modern interpretation of Basque regional traditions. In addition, he has been greatly inspired by the neo-classical architectural heritage, which gives his creations a feeling of balance and simplicity. Among his best known works are the Economics Faculty building in Madrid (1991–3) and the restoration of the Hospedal del Rey at Melilla (1995–6).See also: architects; architecture; ModernismMIHAIL MOLDOVEANU
